Our School

Welcome to Mariner Middle School!

“THE” Mariner Middle School is located on Route 5 in Milton, Delaware. The outlook of Mariner is that all students and staff will be challenged, respected, safe and supported. Mariner is a student-friendly school that creates high expectations for all students while also offering every student their own chance to shine. Students at Mariner become well-rounded citizens during their time there and leave with defined goals that will help them to pursue their dreams of higher education or entering careers after high school. Mariner Middle School is unique in that it has been the only school in the state to earn School-Wide Site of Distinction for three years in a row. Mariner offers many different outlets for students to express themselves, such as Advancement Via Individual Determination (A.V.I.D.), Business Professionals of America (BPA), drama club, chorus, band, numerous sports, the Junior Honor Society, and Student Council. Mariner also is one of the only schools that offers their 8th graders an opportunity to take a science field trip to Florida. To sum it up in three words, Mariner Middle School is a “Supportive School Family.”

The goals of Mariner Middle School include:

  • Helping all students meet the state's Grade Level Expectations (GLE's) for ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Where deficits exist, it is our goal to make adjustments that will enable all students to meet the state's content and performance standards as measured by the DSTP.
  • We also recognize that student learning requires effective teaching and leadership.  Effective teaching and leadership require the belief that all children can learn the setting of high expectations, the creation of student center lessons, and the participation in professional development that is data driven, and centered on student achievement.
  • Student achievement also requires an academic, physical, social, and emotional climate that is fostered and maintained by all stakeholders.
  • It is our goal of Mariner Middle School to passionately establish and maintain a climate that supports student achievement and success.
