6th Grade Music

Course Description

This class will be a percussion-based class, gaining the skills of bucket drumming

Objectives/Goals/Targets: Students will gain knowledge of rhythmic notation and musical vocabulary. they will learn the elements of performance and be able to express their new rhythmic knowledge on their bucket drums.

Required Texts, Materials, and Resources: Students will need pencils, their iPad, lined paper, colored pencils/markers/pens. Students will be given music in class that will stay in the classroom unless otherwise needed.

7th Grade Music

Course Description

This course will focus on the ability to read and perform music for the piano.

Objectives/Goals/Targets: Students will gain knowledge of pitch and rhythm to be able to read music. They will learn to express that knowledge on a keyboard instrument. Students will also learn different aspects of performance and composition.

Required Texts, Materials, and Resources: Students will need pencils, colored pencils/pens/markers, paper, iPad. They will be given a music folder in class.

6th - 8th Grade Band

Course Description

This course will put an emphasis on instrumental performance culminating in several yearly concerts.

Objectives/Goals/Targets: Students will be able to identify and read rhythmic and pitch notation, as well as other musical notations pertaining to dynamics, tempo, and time.

Required Texts, Materials, and Resources: Students are required to have an instrument to practice on, a Making Music Matter Book 1 for their instrument, a music folder, a pencil, and any accessories for their instrument (i.e. reeds, oil, neck strap).
